FirmTech Data Privacy Field Guide:

Ch. 01What it records

What the TechRing records, and where it goes

Last updated: November 2026

What data does a smart erection ring collect?

The FirmTech TechRing records erection firmness, quality and duration during sex, and the count, strength and length of nighttime erections.

That makes the TechRing a wearable device for erectile dysfunction that creates health data, unlike a standard constriction ring. Its sensors measure while you wear it, then the data syncs over Bluetooth to the FirmTech app, where it rolls into one Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100.

Part of the FirmTech erection ring data privacy guide, which lists every privacy contact route in one place.

What is a wearable ED device?

A wearable ED device is worn on the body to help with erections, and in the TechRing's case, to measure them. The TechRing is a soft, doctor-designed ring worn at the base of the penis with an anatomical peno-scrotal fit: one loop under the testicles and one around the base. Gentle pressure slows blood from flowing back out, for firmer, longer erections without pills or a prescription.

What sets it apart from other wearable ED devices is the sensors. FirmTech describes it as the world's first smart wearable for the penis. Until it existed, measuring nighttime erections meant a sleep lab; the TechRing does it at home.

The last row matters for privacy: those logs are information you type in yourself. They help the app show what moves your score, and they fall under the same FirmTech privacy rules as the sensor data.

Why nighttime erections are worth recording

Healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep. They happen without arousal, so FirmTech treats them as a clean read of blood flow, nerves and hormones. Penile arteries are smaller than the heart's, so changes often show up there first. Researchers have studied overnight erections as a cardiovascular signal, which is part of why this data deserves careful handling.

How the data moves, in order

  1. The ring's sensors measure while you wear it, during sex or for up to 12 hours overnight.
  2. In the morning, hold the button for 3 seconds and place the ring on its USB charger.
  3. Open the FirmTech app on iPhone or Android; the night syncs over Bluetooth.
  4. The app stores it securely, handled to HIPAA standards, and never sells it.
  5. You decide whether a doctor sees it, and you can delete it from inside the app at any time.

What does the TechRing track?
The TechRing tracks firmness and duration during sex, plus the count, strength and length of nighttime erections while you sleep. The FirmTech app rolls this into one Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100. You can also log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication so the app can show what actually affects your score.
What is a wearable device for erectile dysfunction?
A wearable device for erectile dysfunction is worn on the body to support erections or measure them. The FirmTech TechRing does both: it is a doctor-designed erection ring that keeps blood in the penis for firmer, longer erections, and its built-in sensors record performance and nighttime erections, which sync to an app on iPhone or Android over Bluetooth.
Does the FirmTech app need an account?
Yes, the TechRing works through the FirmTech app, and FirmTech offers to remove both your data and your account from inside the app. Setup is short: charge the ring, download the app, turn on Bluetooth and follow the prompts to pair. For details on exactly which account fields are stored, read the privacy policy at getfirmtech.com/privacy-policy.
Why does the TechRing record nighttime erections?
Nighttime erections happen without arousal, so FirmTech treats them as a clean read of blood flow, nerves and hormones. FirmTech says healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep. Changes there often show up before a man notices anything during sex, which is why overnight tracking is a core TechRing feature.
How does TechRing data get to my phone?
TechRing data syncs to the FirmTech app over Bluetooth. After a night of wear, FirmTech says to hold the button for 3 seconds, put the ring on the charger and connect to it in the app to sync. The app works on both iPhone and Android, and is free with the TechRing.
Do the Performance Ring or MaxPR connect to the app?
No. The Performance Ring and MaxPR have no sensors and no Bluetooth connection, so they never connect to the app and create no data. They cost $60 each. The TechRing, at $275, is the only FirmTech ring with built-in sensors, app tracking and a rechargeable 12-hour battery.
